Other top prospect performances:

Yankees C Gary Sanchez, Double-A Trenton: 2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R — After hitting .316 in April, Sanchez has struggled in the Eastern league, hitting .222 in 38 games since. The homer was his first of June and just the third extra-base hit he’s had this month.

[milbvideo id=”33899661" width=”480" height=”270" /]

Indians RHP Adam Plutko, Class A Advanced Carolina: 6 IP, 3 H, ER, 6 K == The former UCLA standout has put together consecutive excellent outings for the Mudcats after allowing 11 earned runs over his first three Carolina League starts. Plutko was dominant at Class A Lake County to start the year.

Rangers RHP Sam Wolff, Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach: 5 IP, 4 H, BB, 4 K — Wolff has some big stuff, starting with a fastball that ticks into the mid-90s. The New Mexico product has put together a solid first full pro season, posting a 2.60 ERA while allowing just three homers in 79 2/3 innings.

Brewers C Clint Coulter, Class A Wisconsin: 4-for-7, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, K in doubleheader — Coulter’s had a breakout season with the Rattlers and is emerging as one of the top offensive catching prospects in the Minors. The 20-year-old has nearly as many walks (42) as strikeouts (46) to go along with 12 homers and a .291 average.

Nationals 3B Drew Ward, Class A Hagerstown: 3-for-5, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, K — Another day, another big performance from the 19-year-old Nats prospect. Ward has eight homers on the year as a valuable left-handed-hitting infielder and is slashing .279/.331/.475 through 55 games.

Rangers OF Nomar Mazara, Class A Hickory: 3-for-5, HR, 3 RBI, R, K — Mazara has turned some kind of corner, suddenly showing excellent plate discipline and tapping into his raw power. Over his past 10 games he has more walks (10) than strikeouts (9), and he’s already bopped five homers this month after clubbing five between April and May combined.

[milbvideo id=”33910729" width=”480" height=”270" /]

Blue Jays SS Dawel Lugo, Class A Lansing: 3-for-4, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI — The 19-year-old is hitting .292 on the season and has struck out just four times in 14 June games. Putting a lot of balls in play as a speedy middle infielder is a fine way to get by.

Orioles LHP Steven Brault, Class A Delmarva: 7 IP, 3 H, ER, 7 K — Brault slimmed his ERA to 2.73 and lifted his K/BB ratio to 70-to-15 over 79 innings with just one homer allowed. The 22-year-old has three pitches that could work at average or better and has shown good control in the South Atlantic League.

Pirates OF Jordan Luplow, Class A Short Season Jamestown: 2-for-4, HR, 2 R, RBI, BB — The Pirates’ third-round pick with his first pro homer in his second game with the Jammers.
