Other top prospect performances:

Rangers 3B Joey Gallo, Double-A Frisco: 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 R, RBI — Gallo still leads the Minor Leagues with 28 long balls on the season, including seven in 15 games with the RoughRiders. The 20-year-old is slashing .273/.375/.691 with 26 strikeouts in 55 at-bats.

Astros OF Andrew Aplin, Double-A Corpus Christi: 3-for-4, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 R, CS — Aplin is the best defensive center fielder among the Astros’ top prospects or Major Leaguers (see video below), so even though his bat lags behind some of his future playing-time competitors, he still has a decent shot at an everyday MLB gig in Houston. The left-handed hitter has more walks (46) than strikeouts (38) but doesn’t look like much of a power threat — Thursday’s outburst gives him four long balls in 65 games this year.

White Sox OF Courtney Hawkins, Class A Advanced Winston-Salem: 3-for-8, HR, 3B, 6 RBI, 2 R, SB in doubleheader — After an encouraging April, Hawkins cooled off some in May, batting .232 with just three homers. He’s rebounded late in June, though, hitting .343 with three homers in his past nine games.

White Sox OF Jacob May, Class A Advanced Winston-Salem: 5-for-7, 2 2B, 4 R, 2 RBI, BB, 3 SB — After a horrid April and a mediocre May, the 2013 third-rounder has blown up in June, batting .357 while going 14-for-14 on stolen base attempts.

Rangers OF Nick Williams, Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach: 3-for-5, HR, 3 RBI, R — The 20-year-old with the self-proclaimed fastest hands in the Minors has been putting them on display of late, bopping three homers while hitting .341 over his past 10 games.

D-backs RHP Aaron Blair, Class A Advanced Visalia: 6 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 7 K — The Cal League hasn’t done much to slow the Marshall product as he’s managed a 3.61 ERA through 10 starts. Over 57 1/3 innings, the 22-year-old has 68 strikeouts and 15 walks with four homers allowed, and the last round-tripper against him was back on May 19.

A’s 1B Matt Olson, Class A Advanced Stockton: 2-for-4, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB, K — The Cal League has been good to Olson, who has 22 homers in 76 games — 15 at Stockton’s hitter-friendly ball park. The left-handed hitter has a knack for working counts, racking up 67 walks to go with 69 strikeouts. Olson may be the ultimate three-true-outcomes player right now, although he’ll have to prove the power is for real outside the Cal League at some point, too.

Tigers C Grayson Greiner, Class A West Michigan: 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, R, K — The 2014 third-rounder belted his first pro homer Thursday in his fifth game. Detroit aggressively sent the South Carolina product to the full-season level to start the year, which indicates the team has some confidence in the backstop’s polish. His bat was considered a bigger question than his glove coming into the Draft.
