Other top prospect performances:

Nationals OF Steven Souza Jr., Triple-A Syracuse: 2-for-4, HR, RBI, R — The 25-year-old has homers in consecutive game and drove his batting average up to .366 in 38 games. Making a case to earn playing time in the Majors if and when the Nats can squeeze him out there.

Tigers 2B Hernan Perez, Triple-A Toledo: 4-for-5, HR, 3B, 4 RBI, 2 R — The homer was the first this year for the 23-year-old. Power isn’t a big part of his game, so he’ll need to do better than his current .264 average to earn MLB playing time.

Mariner RHP Taijuan Walker, Triple-A Tacoma: 2 IP, H, ER, 4 BB, 4 K — Walker has a 7-to-4 K/BB over five innings in his latest attempt to return from an impingement in his throwing shoulder. He was up in the zone often in his last outing and apparently was having trouble finding the zone at all on Tuesday.

Tigers OF Steven Moya, Double-A Erie: 3-for-6, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, R — Moya might have as much raw pop as anybody in the Minors, including Joey Gallo, and when he’s on stretches like these, it’s fun to dream on what he could be if the hit tool allows his power to actualize. Moya has seven homers in his past 10 games and 12 for the season — the latter is one shy of a career high. He’s slashing .286/.307/.562 on the year with 56 strikeouts and six walks in 53 games.

Red Sox C Blake Swihart, Double-A Portland: 2-for-5, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, R, K — The switch-hitting backstop has been consistently solid for the Sea Dogs and is slashing .289/.324/.480 with six long balls in 44 games.

Cubs 3B Kris Bryant, Double-A Tennessee: 1-for-2, HR, 2 RBI, R, 2 BB, K — Bryant now has 19 homers and a .353 average and is leading the Southern League in all the Triple Crown categories. Despite that, MLB.com reported Tuesday that the Cubs want Bryant to remain in Double-A.

[milbvideo id=”33410833" width=”480" height=”270" /]

Cardinals LHP Marco Gonzales, Double-A Springfield: 6 IP, 4 H, ER, BB, 7 K — Gonzales has a 2.86 ERA through four starts with Springfield, posting an impressive 26-to-5 K/BB over 22 innings.

Brewers SS Orlando Arcia, Class A Advanced Brevard County: 4-for-5, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R — Arcia has some excellent defensive tools at short and has hit .271 as a 19-year-old in the Florida State League. The home run was his first at the level.

Rangers OF Nomar Mazara, Class A Hickory: 3-for-4, HR, 3 RBI, R, BB — Mazara has four homers and eight walks over his past 10 games, showing improved discipline and getting better results of late after hitting .205 in April.
