Other top prospect performances:

Astros OF Domingo Santana, Triple-A Oklahoma City — 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 R, RBI, K — Santana is up to 10 homers on the season and is slashing .295/.360/.494. If he can cut down on the strikeouts (76 in 64 games), he could join George Springer and Jon Singleton in Houston late in the season.

Cubs SS Javier Baez, Triple-A Iowa: 3-for-5, HR, 3B, 4 R, 2 RBI, K, SB — To be fair, the I-Cubs scored 17 runs in this game, so Baez wasn’t exactly standing out in a pitcher’s duel. The 21-year-old is getting warm again, with two homers and three multi-hit games among his last four contests.

Reds RHP Michael Lorenzen, Double-A Pensacola: 5 IP, 3 H, 3 K — Lorenzen’s been somewhat inconsistent, scattering a few lackluster outings with some impressive ones like Monday’s start. Overall, he has a 2.41 ERA in 13 starts this season.

Indians CF Tyler Naquin, Double-A Akron: 3-for-5, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI — Naquin’s gone deep twice in his past four games, a span in which he’s gone 8-for-18. Overall, the 23-year-old is slashing .322/.377/.442.

Cubs 3B Kris Bryant, Double-A Tennessee: 2-for-5, HR, 2 R, RBI, 2 K — Bryant has homers in three straight games. During his recent five-game series at Jacksonville, he went 9-for-20 with six extra-base hits. The Cubs say they plan to keep the 22-year-old in Double-A for a while longer, but that will be hard to justify if he keeps dominating like this.

[milbvideo id=”33587763" width=”480" height=”270" /]

Astros OF Teoscar Hernandez, Class A Advanced Lancaster: 4-for-6, HR, 2 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI, K, SB — A little bit of everything from the 21-year-old in this one. Hernandez is slashing .302/.383/.574 in the hitter-friendly Cal League with 12 home runs and 21 steals in 26 tries.

Mariners 3B D.J. Peterson, Class A Advanced High Desert: 2-for-5, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, R, 2 K — Peterson has 12 homers, 10 of which have come since May 1. The infielder hit .323 in May and is hitting .333 in June. Looking like a nice get for Seattle with the 12th overall pick in last year’s Draft.

Rangers INF Travis Demeritte, Class A Hickory: 3-for-6, HR, 2B, 3 R, 2 RBI, 2 K — Demeritte’s been doing his best Joey Gallo impression of late, going long six times in the past 10 games and 15 times in 57 games this season. The 19-year-old was expected to have a little pop as a first-round pick last year, but this output is surprising, even given Hickory’s generous offensive environment. And, for what it’s worth, 10 of his long balls have come on the road.

Rangers RHP Akeem Bostick, Class A Hickory: 7 IP, 2 H, 4 K — The Rangers second-round pick from last year’s Draft had a nice day with the Crawdads, too. The seven innings marked a season-high for Bostick and it was his first scoreless outing of the year. He needed just 77 pitches (55 strikes) in the outing.
