Other top prospect performances:

Indians CF Tyler Naquin, Double-A Akron: 2-for-4, HR, RBI, R, K — The 23-year-old has become a defensive asset in center and hasn’t been overmatched in Double-A, slashing .293/.354/.407 with nine steals. The homer was his first in 36 games this year.

Orioles 1B Christian Walker, Double-A Bowie: 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R, K — Walker has eight homers in 38 games with a .312 average and .854 OPS. The South Carolina product is a bat-first first baseman, which puts a lot of pressure on the bat, but he’s hit well thus far in the Minors.

Yankees C Peter O’Brien, Double-A Trenton: 2-for-4, HR, RBI, R, 2 K — The 23-year-old is tied with the Rangers’ Joey Gallo for the MiLB home run lead with 14, including four in five games with Trenton. The Miami product doesn’t have a great reputation as a catcher and has played seven games in the outfield this season, and I imagine he’ll get more time there now that he shares a roster with Gary Sanchez.

Padres OF Rymer Liriano, Double-A San Antonio: 3-for-6, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 R, 2 K — Liriano’s power stroke has returned after missing the 2013 season due to injury with nine homers in 38 games. He’s struck out 42 times, as well.

Padres C Austin Hedges, Double-A San Antonio: 2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, R, BB, K — The glove-first backstop has brought his bat to life this month, ripping six doubles and a homer while batting .405 over his past 10 games. Hedges has drawn five of his seven walks this season during that stretch.

Cubs OF Albert Almora, Class A Advanced Daytona: 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, R — Almora has back-to-back multi-hit games after a slow start to 2014, including a three-hit game with his dad — 20 days removed from surgery for prostate cancer — in the stands Tuesday. A good read there from Kelsie Heneghan.

Royals RHP Christian Binford, Class A Advanced: 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 6 K — The 6-foot-6 21-year-old has racked up 48 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings this season.

Pirates OF Harold Ramirez, Class A West Virginia: 3-for-4, 2B, RBI, R, BB, SB — The 20-year-old missed more than a month with a hamstring injury but has hit safely in each of the five games with four stolen bases since he’s returned.
