Other top prospect performances:

Cubs 2B Arismendy Alcantara, Triple-A Iowa: 2-for-4, 2 HR, 3 R, 2 RBI — The switch-hitting 22-year-old has four homers in his past nine games with a .382 average and 1.315 OPS. Javier Baez and Kris Bryant get a lot more buzz, and deservedly so, but Alcantara should be the first to lock down a regular MLB gig of the group.

Pirates RHP Adrian Sampson, Double-A Altoona: 8 IP, 6 H, 5 K — Sampson required just 81 pitches in the gem, his best in a season filled with outstanding outings. The 22-year-old has a 1.98 ERA in Double-A through 11 starts with 48 strikeouts and 16 walks in 63 2/3 innings. Sampson also has a 51.05-percent groundball rate (per MLBFarm.com), and is emerging as a potential back-end rotation candidate from a farm system already loaded with starting pitching prospects.

Twins OF Adam Brett Walker II, Class A Advanced Fort Myers: 3-for-5, 2 HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R — A big day for the big 22 year old from Milwaukee. Walker has struggled with the strike zone in Class A Advanced, striking out 60 times and drawing just 16 walks in 51 games. The raw power is real, though, and his 12 homers is only one fewer than Miguel Sano hit in as many games last year. It’s a tough park/league for hitters, but Walker’s cutting through the Florida humidity when he connects.

Tigers RHP Jake Thompson, Class A Advanced Lakeland: 5 IP, H, 2 BB, 7 K — The 20-year-old has been dominant at times in the Florida State League. The 6-foot-4 hurler has a 1.64 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 55 innings.

Astros LHP Josh Hader, Class A Advanced Lancaster: 7 2/3 IP, 4 H, ER, BB, 9 K, HR — Hader now has a 2.44 ERA this season, including a 2.97 mark at home, which is outrageous considering his home park. The 20-year-old has done plenty to drive up his stock this season, starting with strike out 69 batters in 55 1/3 innings.

D-backs 3B Brandon Drury, Class A Advanced Visalia: 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R — Drury could be the saving grace for Arizona in the Justin Upton deal with Atlanta two offseasons ago. The 21 year old already has 12 homers this season, three shy of his career high.

Mariners OF Gabriel Guerrero, Class A Advanced High Desert: 2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R — After being otherworldly in April, Guerrero has been merely very good in May, slashing .309/.367/.455. The 20 year old has an .861 OPS for the season.

Pirates SS JaCoby Jones, Class A West Virginia: 2-for-5, HR, 2B, 4 RBI, R, BB, 2 K — Jones has homers in two of his past three games and is slashing .273/.355/.439. His batting average has slipped in May as he’s struck out 38 times in 28 games, but he’s also hitting for more power and drawing more walks.

Orioles RHP Hunter Harvey, Class A Delmarva: 6 IP, 2 H, R, 2 BB, 7 K — Harvey carved up a Lakewood lineup stocked with talented — but raw — Phillies prospects, including Carlos Tocci, J.P. Crawford and Dylan Cozens. Harvey has a 1.68 ERA with 64 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings pitched, and could be due for a midseason call up to Frederick.
