The Super Bowl is an unofficial American holiday — one that rivals the likes of Labor Day in enthusiasm. In the spirit of this all-American affair, we wanted to take a look at how dedicated Miles users were to seeing their favorite teams during the regular season from September 9, 2021, to January 9, 2022. Who has the most loyal fanbase? And how far are they willing to go to show their support?

Most Visited Stadiums For Miles Users

Who reigns supreme in fan attendance? It may not come as a surprise that “America’s Team”, or the Dallas Cowboys, come in at the number one spot. Their home field, AT&T Stadium, houses a league-leading 80,000 person capacity. Meanwhile, one of the Super Bowl hopefuls, and the arguable favorite to take the Lombardi trophy, the Los Angeles Rams come in the top 5. It’s no wonder because their new SoFi Stadium, host venue of Super Bowl LVI, is a work of art.

How Far Will Football Fans Travel?

Football fans are committed to their teams — that is irrefutable. And with fans spread across the country, the question is: how far will they go to support their team? As it turns out, of the Miles users that qualified our parameters*, most people traveled five to 25 miles to get to the stadium. Makes sense! However, there are some exceptionally dedicated fans out there. Some people drove over 200 and even over 300 miles to see their team play!

With the Big Game this weekend and football fans descending on Los Angeles to see the matchup between the Rams and Bengals, the question now is: how far are fans willing to travel for the biggest football event of the year? Will locals make up a big portion of the audience where we have seen the majority of visitors come from? In this year the home team is playing in the game so some may presume the distance traveled will be relatively short. However, fans from Cincinnati may also show up in droves from over 2,000 miles away to see their team play in their first Super Bowl in 33 years. Keep an eye on the crowd to see what fans made the journey!

*Parameters of a “stadium visit”: Users must leave their home vicinity and end their trip within 500 meters of one of 31 NFL stadiums. They must then record their next trip 2 or more hours later.
