In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, several militias worked around the greater Houston area to aid those affected by the storm. The response came in a few different forms and through different blocs of militias that did not always work together or communicate with one another.

Here are a couple of stories of militia response to Harvey:

First, the response by the Texas Republic Militia (TRM) in southern Texas.

Something largely ignored in the conversation around response to Hurricane Harvey and other similar disasters is the activity that militias and their networks undertake in their wake. This quick piece examines the response by a Texas militia to the storm.

Second, the operations by the American Freedom Keepers (AFK) in Little Cambodia.

In this story, we focus on the response by a coalition led by AFK, examining a case of a responding group in great disagreement with other emergency response agencies and media organizations.
