Begin Again

I thought she had brought me

to a funeral

and I finally released breath

when I realized how wrong I was.

She stands alone

letting me watch her

a knowing smile over her shoulder.

My hands found hers

somehow

in the violence of this world

and in the chaos of noise

that vibrates within us.

She remembers my eyes

as I fall through hers.

She always knew

what we’d be.

We’ll paddle through the ocean of time.

We’ll catch sharks

and leave them as conquerors.
