I receive a text message, but it’s not from you.

I look to my left, but you’re not sitting next to me at the movies.

I am in the passenger seat of a car with the windows down, but your hand is not the one I am holding.

I have my hair done up and a new pair of shoes on, but it’s not you I am meeting.

I know it’s Thursday, but my agenda does not include you.

I am smiling again, but you’re not the reason why.

It’s not you and it hasn’t been you for a long time now.

You’re not here anymore and I’m finally okay with that.
