Happy Friday! MAP’s Five on Friday kicks off the weekend by sharing five things we loved this week. Join in with us by sharing five things you’re loving in the comments below!

{{№1: Exploring}}

Itching to venture to a new town? Join MAP’s President Steven Olikara in Charlottesville, Virginia at TomTom Festival on April 12! Not only is it a great opportunity to explore Charlottesville and try its signature dish, it’s an even better opportunity to learn how you can spark a movement and shift the narrative in today’s divisive climate.

{{№2: Discovering}}

A go-to for inspiration, Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations podcast is full of words of wisdom from leaders young and old. This week, Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize recipient, shares her thoughts on finding your defining moment—regardless of age, gender, or background—and using it to be emboldened and empowered.

{{№3: Highlighting}}

MAP’s State Future Caucus Network Director Cherisse Eatmon is highlighting a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech during the 1963 March on Washington: “This week marks 50 years since the assassination of Dr. King, and throughout this country many still fail to grasp the significance of character and integrity over physical features that differentiate us. My desires for humanity reiterate so many of the impassioned words Dr. King shared with us more than half a century ago. The future of this country is dependent upon the character of its leaders, and I remain hopeful that progress is still on the horizon.”

{{№4: Wondering}}

In light of the #MeToo movement, a record number of women are running for office and challenging the status-quo of what it means to be a political candidate. We wonder: what lasting impact will female candidates have on the campaign process? And, if more women are elected to public office, what positive shift will occur in the way America governs?

{{№5: Listening}}

MAP’s COO Layla Zaidane introduced the office to a fun, jazzy playlist she recently discovered, Scott Bradlee’s Post Modern Jukebox. Full of jazz remakes of modern pop songs, this playlist is excellent listening, particularly for work or a relaxing night in, and has been reverberating throughout the MAP office for the past week.
