LAHORE: Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) has asked students not to enrol in Lahore’s Imperial College of Business Studies (ICBS) claiming that the commission has observed serious irregularities and mismanagement in the ICBS’s academic operations.

HEC also banned the college from taking any new students at any degree level, adding that HEC will not recognise the degrees awarded to such students. ICBS was founded in 1991 by the Pakistan Benevolence & Social Management Trust and has since then graduated thousands of students.

The question arises that why was ICBS allowed to provide sub-standard education for over a decade? ICBS administration has claimed that this is simply “a routine matter” and claimed that existing students will not be affected by the HEC notification.

Imperial College of Business Studies (ICBS) shouldn’t be confused with Imperial College Business School which is part of the prestigious Imperial College London.
