The global competition is looking for women focused startups to compete nationally for a chance to receive training in China

KARACHI: Big News for women focused startups in Pakistan! She Loves Tech is looking for aspiring startups to compete for a place on the week-long boot camp and potential funding from world leading venture capital funds.

She Loves Tech, a global startup competition, aims to promote women in technology from participating countries. The competition will be held in multiple locations across the world, with the finals scheduled to be held in Beijing this September. The competition’s goal is to provide a platform for international and Chinese tech companies, investors, entrepreneurs, startups and consumers together, to promote technology for women and women in technology.

The She Loves Tech 2017 Global Startup Competition will have rounds in Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Singapore. It targets startups seeking angel, seed or A-round funding, and which must have either have a female founder or an idea that impacts women positively using technology.

The competition is brought to Pakistan by CIRCLE a Karachi-based social enterprise focused on promoting women’s economic presence and leadership development with a mission to develop and build the entrepreneurial and leadership capabilities of women in Pakistan.

The winner of the national competition, which will be held in July 2017, from Pakistan will get to participate in a one-week boot camp in China with opportunities to network with investors and top tech companies in China. The competition is open to both men and women as long as the idea impacts women in some way. Entries for the competition are open until the 23rd of June.

Talking to millennialpk, Sadaffe Abid, the co-founder of CIRCLE, claimed that she is “thrilled to bring She Loves Tech to Pakistan, a country where more and more women are exploring entrepreneurship,” adding, that “start ups solve real challenges, bring innovation and fuel the economy. We want to thank all our partners for supporting and encouraging us.”

She Loves Tech’s Pakistan competition is supported by leading players in the Pakistan entrepreneurship ecosystem which include: The Nest i/o, Plan 9, Tech Valley Abbottabad, Peshawar 2.0, WeCreate Pakistan, Telenor Velocity, Momentum, NED ORIC CINETIC, Herself.

The top team from She Loves Tech Pakistan will receive a spot to pitch at the global finals of the She Loves Tech 2017 Global Startup Competition, and the chance to participate in an immersive week-long boot camp in September consisting of talks and panels, visits to leading tech companies, networking opportunities, and personalized pitch preparation workshops.
