ARLINGTON, VA (December 6, 2016) MILLIE was selected by Forbes.com as one of the “Top 25 Veteran-Founded Startups in America”. The finalists were chosen from a pool of 85 nominees and ranked based on a five-factor scoring system. MILLIE’s revenue, revenue growth rate, capital raised, and employee headcount were all weighed against the other nominees — each no more than five years old and at least 50 percent owned or operated by a military veteran founder. MILLIE was awarded the №25 position and shares space on the list with other notable startups such as Plated, Bottle Breacher, and Combat Flip Flops.

Each year, the Department of Defense moves over 500,000 service members and their families. Upon retiring from the Army in 2015, Founders Ken Robbins and Jason Dempsey launched MILLIE with the goal of alleviating the stress these constant moves place on military families. MILLIE provides a one-stop shop that connects members of the military and their families with specialized knowledge and trusted resource providers to guide them through the military moving process. In addition to veterans Robbins and Dempsey, MILLIE’s core team consists of seven military spouses. The team has cumulatively completed over 50 Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves and knows what it means to move a family while serving in uniform.

“It’s an honor for us to be recognized with so many other great veteran-founded companies” said Robbins, MILLIE CEO. “It validates that we are making an impact on helping military families by connecting them with fellow veterans and military spouses.”

MILLIE has spent hundreds of hours curating online installation guides for over 50 military installations — offered free to military families. MILLIE hires local military spouses to help build these guides, including photographers, graphic artists, and focus groups. In its first year, MILLIE has tackled some of the military’s largest and most complex markets including the Washington, D.C. metro region, San Diego, and the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

In addition to providing free content to educate families on the moving process, MILLIE also provides access to trusted service providers — veterans and military spouses who know what it means to move. AgentHero is MILLIE’s nationwide network of handpicked real estate agents who are either veterans or military spouses, and MILLIE Scouts are military spouses available to serve as “boots on the ground” for families who are often far from their new — or previous — duty station.
