เล่าให้ฟัง FinOps: BigQuery Query Cost Monitoring

สวัสดีค่ะ ล่าสุดเมื่อวันที่ 8 มิ.ย. 2023 เราได้มีโอกาสไปพูดหัวข้อเรื่อง “FinOps: BigQuery Query Cost Monitoring” ใน Kick-off event ของ #ChaiyoGCP season 3

พูดถึงโครงการสักหน่อย
โครงการ #ChaiyoGCP นั้นเป็นโครงการที่จัดขึ้นเพื่อเปิดให้คนทั่วไปได้เรียนรู้การใช้งานบน Google Cloud ฟรี ผ่านการทำ self-paced lab โดยเปิดพร้อมกัน ทำให้หลายคนเข้ามาเรียนรู้และเรียนไปพร้อมๆกับเพื่อนๆใน community ด้วย และเมื่อทำ lab จนได้ quest ครบที่กำหนด ก็จะได้รับของรางวัลค่ะ :D

Fun fact: #ChaiyoGCP ถือเป็นหนึ่งใน Cloud Study Jams ที่เป็นโครงการที่จุดประสงค์เพื่อการเรียนรู้ไปด้วยกันของคนใน community
พูดง่ายๆว่า Cloud Study Jams เป็นชื่อโครงการแบบ general และแต่ละท้องที่ก็จะมีชื่อโครงการที่ต่างกันออกไป เวียดนามชื่อ #QuanQuanGCP ที่ไทยเราชื่อ #ChaiyoGCP เป็นต้น น่ารักเนอะ

โดยระยะเวลาโครงการ 5 มิ.ย. — 4 ก.ค. 2023

ซึ่ง 1 ใน quest ที่ ผู้เข้าร่วมสามารถเลือกได้คือการใช้งาน BigQuery และ Looker นั่นเอง ดังนั้นเรามองว่าเป็นโอกาสดีที่จะนำ usecase การใช้งานทั้ง service นี้ในชีวิตประจำวันมาเล่าให้ฟัง

โดยเราใช้ BigQuery และ Looker Studio คู่กัน เพื่อใช้สำหรับเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในเรื่องของ FinOps ที่ทาง CJ Express Tech (TILDI) ได้นำมาปรับใช้ภายในองค์กร

วัน Kickoff ของโครงการ มีหัวข้ออื่นๆด้วย Recap: Cloud Summit และ Tips on how to be successful with Cloud Skillsboost

วัน Kick-off event เป็นงาน hybrid โดยจัดขึ้นที่ Google Thailand Office และรับชมสดๆใน online ค่ะ (คนเต็มห้องเลย ตื่นเต้นมากๆ ><)

On June 8, 2023, I have the opportunity to speak on the topic “BigQuery Query Cost Monitoring” in the kick-off event of #ChaiyoGCP season 3.

#ChaiyoGCP project is a project that is open to the general public to learn how to use Google Cloud for free through a self-paced lab on Cloud Skill Boosts simultaneously. The pariticipant able to learn and study together with friends in the community. At the required completed quests, they will receive the rewards.

Project occurs during 5 June— 4 July 2023

One of the quests that participants can choose from is the use of BigQuery and Looker, so I saw this as a great opportunity to share the usecases of using both services in real life.
We use BigQuery and Looker Studio together as part of the FinOps that CJ Express Tech (TILDI) has implemented in-house.
