Development Update:

This week marked the completion of phase one of our transition to a fully Rust-based architecture. Minimal implementations of all core bridge systems now exist in Rust. This is important for a number of reasons. Because our cryptography-heavy clients were already written in Rust, up to this point we had been duplicating work to maintain compatibility with our Python codebase.

Additionally, because of Rust’s powerful type-system and compile-time checks, we have been able significantly reduce complexity around some of our input sanitization and message-routing systems. Nothing is free of course; the fine-grained control and expressive type-system of Rust also translates into greater front-loaded complexity in terms of development. The next phase of work will focus on implementing some of the conveniences which were handled automatically by Python libraries, such intelligent keep-alive handling for socket connections, and graceful connection closures.

Special thanks to the gentlemen at The BTC Podcast, Hashing it Out. Hunter and Forrest enjoyed the conversation and look forward to having more with you all in the future! You can find the podcast here.

A few weeks ago our CTO, Hunter Prendergast, spoke at Fordham University in NYC. Below you will find the video of the Panel he spoke on: Blockchain and AdTech. His presentation focuses on blockchain, infrastructure, and it’s ramifications for industries including AdTech.

Other blogs to check out:

The blog, The MIMIR B2i Bridge: The Ease of a Web API, The Power of a Node, was published today. This blog is about how the MIMIR B2i bridge combines the services of Web API’s with the benefits of hosting a node. We combined the benefits of both technologies.

Upcoming events:

May 22, 2018 > Solidity Workshop, General Assembly, Atlanta
Hunter will be teaching an introductory workshop on Solidity and writing smart contracts at General Assembly in Atlanta at Ponce City Market. This event is free of charge and there is still available space in the class. We would love to see you there!
