3 Assumptions as a starting point

  1. Personal data is convertible into any forms for different use via IoT
  2. Collected data can make self-reflection process richer, deeper and playful
  3. Technology could create a unique personalized contents using past records

Hypothesis for Prototype

  1. A dynamic representation of personal data can make self-reflection process richer, deeper and playful than numerical and mechanical data representation.
  2. When people enjoy self-reflection, they reflect on their past more and remember their past better.

Experimental variables

Different data expression methods

  1. Raw and dispersed data
  2. Numerical and mechanical data representation
  3. Dynamic visual representation of data

Prototype experiment plan

  1. Find a participant
  2. Ask her to share personal data of recent travel (Data includes — Pictures, Locations, Notes and Social media activities) — Raw and dispersed data
  3. Bring together all data into one place — Numerical and mechanical representation (Type A)
  4. Visualize those data — Dynamic visual representation (Type B)
  5. Show a participant both Type A and B
  6. Interview with a participant to know
  • If she is satisfied with Type A compared to raw data
  • If she is satisfied with Type B compared to raw data
  • What’s difference between Type A and B in terms of experience, and which one does she enjoy more
  • Which one does she prefer

Desired outcome

A participant enjoys self-reflection process more with my prototype
