“I Wish”
A girl child is always special in everyone’s family. People give a lot of importance for the growth and safety of a girl child and that’s how it should be because of the other external factors in society. But still I wish the world would be a better place than today if it had looked like this where I am definitely thinking beyond nature, logic and science.
- “I wish” the menstrual cycle is common for all human beings irrespective of gender. The real fact is that the menstrual cycle for women has never made them unequal to men. But the eyes of society have coined it that way and hence balancing the seesaw :)
- “I wish” women who choose their career path and life partner are not given names of arrogant, stubborn and egoistic women. In fact they are actually independent and strong women who fight all the stereotypes in society.
- “I wish” cooking is a living centric work and not women centric work and I would be glad to see a world where both men and women take equal contribution in kitchen chores.
- “I wish” a woman who does good professionally and earns a good amount of money is still not restricted from taking her life decisions. Many at times the education that has moulded her is spoken about in society as “that’s the reason girl children are not made to be educated highly”. The choice to take her decision comes from her and that’s freedom, never power or dominance.
- “I wish” there is a legal rule mandate that a woman getting married should have a minimum of three educational degrees. Because education for a woman is not going to spoil or make her arrogant. Education is to differentiate the right from the wrong and gives confidence to make wise decisions.
- “I wish” the decisions made by women are considered in a family be it a small or a bigger one (leaving aside women making decisions for a country). Women are always belittled when making decisions (let it be right or wrong). When a man has the right to make decisions even if it’s wrong then women should also have to.
- “I wish” single mothers striving hard to raise their children are not seen as a person who has committed lots of sins and has been pushed to the circumstances. It’s not the mistake or the destiny of a mother to lead a life of a “single mom” but I feel embarrassed for having these thoughts circulated among the society.
- “I wish” both the counterparts who are getting married are trained on how to behave in their in-laws house even before getting married. It’s not that women are the only epitome of sacrifice and adjustments.
- “I wish” women can choose to dress their own way be it a saree or a mini skirt. Character assassination need not be based on the outer covering of a costume but it’s something deeper behind the soul.
- “I wish” women are not the only gender group to break their career for the welfare of the family. It’s an equal responsibility for everyone in a family to contribute instead of targeting the women’s race. It’s up to the individual woman to prioritise between family and career, no external factors can be an influencer.
- “I wish” parents of a girl child can start saving funds for a girl who is 10 year old not for dowry but for her education. Ornaments made of gold will rust inside the lockers but education that illuminates women should be given the first priority.
Last but not the least,
12. “I wish” crossing legs when seated is not a disrespectful gesture only for women but also for all the human races in the world.
Women are no superior to men in the world, but they are not inferior too. We talk about equality in terms of caste, religion, colour, race but we need to talk more about equality in gender. Just because woman does not have masculinity by nature that does not mean they are the weakest of all the sex.
In multitude of cases women themselves stand against other women. This gap has given even more convenience for society to overrule the women community. Let’s stand up for each other and raise our voices beginning from a nuclear family to empowering the nation.
A huge respect to women society whose only job was to give birth to children thousands of years ago to now women stepping out of their homes for daily chores to stepping out of “planet earth” to space for research balancing every dimension of nature. And we still have a long way to fight and go forward.
For those who are reading this and feel that women are given all the benefits and we are currently living in hi fi 21 st century I am sorry to say that, you have not closely related to the emotions and feelings of womanhood related to you, be it your mother, sister, friend, wife or anyone.

Words from an agitated 23 year old woman!!!
