“The final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.” — Anne Frank

As Anne Frank suggests, the things we do shape our character. And, it is also our role to see if someone has good character. It enables us to see if someone is trustworthy and being able to read someone can protect us.

Being a psychology graduate and currently training to be a clinical psychologist, I have been developing this skill constantly.

Knowing whether someone has good character or not is a skill that can be learned and mastered. Here are seven indicators that tell you someone has good character.

1. They Praise Others For Their Support and Work

How someone responds to the effort of others tells me a lot about their character. Praising other people has wonderful effects such as increasing wellbeing, mood and mitigating effects of stress.

If someone is thankful, appreciative and full of praises for another person, it shows you they value the concept of gratitude. It also tells you that they realise how important other people are to us.
