“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”

— G. Michael Hopf, Those Who Remain

Take a guess: What kind of times are we living in right now? Good or bad?

No matter what variable you look at, we can safely conclude that even with all the problems we’re still struggling with today, human civilization has never fared this well. Yes, we’re living in the good times.

However, all the progress that humanity has achieved comes with a caveat. We’ve made our lives so easy that it’s killing us, sometimes literally.

The strong men before us have fought to create the good times we live in today. But as a result, now we’re turning into weak men, and if we don’t change, we won’t be prepared when the hard times come again. And mind you, they will come, as history has shown us time after time.

Today, with everything we need available at such ease, most of us have forgotten the value of hard work. I say we should relearn it.
