Did you know that 30-day jump rope challenges are a thing now?

It seems that we might have reached peak self-improvement.

Today, half of Tik Tok, Instagram, YouTube, and yes, even Medium, are filled with washboard ab, go-getters who all want to share their “simple” advice for how you can become the very best version of yourself.

And while most of it is nonsense (I just saw a 30-day hula hoop challenge), the idea of a 30-day challenge is enticing.

Because according to these self-help gurus, it doesn’t really matter what you do, as long as you commit to doing something every day—preferably for 30 days. It’s the routine that matters, not the habit itself.

But can it really be that simple? Are a few minutes of meditating, journaling, or working out every day for a few weeks enough to a difference?

I had to know.

So I drank the Kool-Aid and chose a 30-day challenge — 100 pushups a day for a month—to discover if this whole self-improvement thing was right for me.
