Life is a mess.

It’s a whirlwind of pressures, responsibilities, expectations and our seemingly endless attempts to try to remain happy along the way.

It feels like there’s always so much to do and so little time in which to get it done. There’s our work, our relationships, our finances and, always lingering at the bottom of the priority pile, there’s us.

It’s easy to drown in the vast ocean of duties that life always suffocates us in. What many of us fail to realise, though, is that often the problem isn’t that we’re not doing enough — it’s that we’re doing too much. In essence, the core issue is that we don’t have boundaries in place.

Yes, Man

More often than not, I find myself saying yes to things that I really shouldn’t. Coffee dates when I’m swamped with deadlines, evening drinks when I should be at the gym and all the rest of it. If you’ve ever seen the movie ‘Yes Man’ with Jim Carrey in it, I’m Jim. And you probably are, too.

If you haven’t seen it, Jim Carrey basically plays a young single guy that always says no to things. After attending a self-help seminar, he vows to say yes to every single request. As a result, great things start to happen to him — like receiving a promotion…
