I’ll get this out of the way now: There’s a big difference between snitching for self-serving reasons and snitching because someone isn’t pulling their weight.

Incompetent, unethical employees need to be removed.

Before your read any further, be honest with yourself and decide if the problem might be you.

That being said, all it takes is insecurity, ambition, and a lack of character for someone to undermine your career. I never believed workplace snitching was a thing until I saw it firsthand.

Why people snitch

I supported my company’s southern division as a financial analyst. The ranking system went Project Manager → Project Executive→ Regional Vice President → C-Suite.

Most Project Executives frothed at the mouth to be an RVP because it was a $50,000+ salary raise with tons of power and perks added in. It also put them one step closer to the C-Suite and millions of dollars.

One of my Project Executives (PX) was on the way to retiring and didn’t care either way. The other two were bloodthirsty to land that role.
