How to Love a Boring Life
Because social media isn’t real
There is one, frustrating human truth.
What feels new and exciting in the moment, is fleeting. Give a week or maybe a couple of months and that thing, that thing you used to hop, skip, and jump to?
Yeah that thing, it’s just become the run-of-the-mill thing you do now. In the beginning, you don’t even think. You can’t fathom that you’d ever get bored, you’re having so much fun, right?
And then, it happens. You find yourself getting bored. The thing that entertained you so easily last month now feels a little, stale.
But this is the truth of all things.
What life isn’t
It’s taken me most of my twenties to realize that the big moments in life are few and far between. If you live for those milestone moments, likely you’re missing the vast majority of life.
I know I was for a long while. Constantly on the hunt for the things that validated my existence. New car, big house, promotion. All that kind of stuff.
Constantly skipping over the little things in life in hopes that the big things would come around quicker, and then, finally then, I could actually live. But of course, when those things did come, I was looking ahead to the next thing.
