What does personal growth actually mean?
What’s it all for?
As a reader of self-improvement articles, have you ever stopped to really ask yourself what you’re doing here? Why are you on this site, at this particular time, reading this particular piece?
Have you ever taken a moment to step back and actually define what personal growth means to you? What it actually looks like in your life? Your life. Not anyone else’s.
I define personal growth as a never-ending process of imagining the person I want to be, interpreting why this is who I want to become, creating a plan to get there and proactively implementing that plan.
But how do I know I’m growing? How do I define progress?
I recently jotted down a few ideas which help me realize I’m truly growing. Fulfilling these ideas solidifies that all of this self-work is actually paying off.
I disagree with my former self
4 years ago, I took a black sharpie and three pieces of white construction paper, and I hand-wrote three different mantras for my life. I placed a piece of Scotch tape on the top of each sign, and I hung them in my closet, a place I believed I’d look every single day.
