Learning new skills feels like you’re on a hamster wheel: No matter how far you run, you’ll never finish. Except, with skills, you’ll never know enough to be up to date.

When you master Instagram, TikTok comes along. By the time you master Bitcoin, you’ll find multiple other projects: NFTs, DeFis, or Ethereum. Things change way too fast. You’re never done.

The motivational psychologist Heidi Halvorson explains:

“It’s not enough to be smart — you need to always be getting smarter.”

I’m not here to complain about hustle culture and tell you how unfair the world is. It’s not because I’m mean: It’s because you can’t change the world around you. But you can change your attitude towards it.

I won’t lie: There’s no easy trick to “master any skill in seven days.” But you can use these Harvard mindset shifts to make your journey easier and more effective.

It starts before you start.
