I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs throughout my modest twenty-four years on earth.

However, that statement feels pretty redundant. Why? Because we all have. Nobody, even those born into good looks and million-dollar mansions, is immune to the peaks and troughs along this path we know as life.

The troughs, we know as adversities. And they can come in limitless forms:

  • Redundancy
  • Bad weather
  • Breakups
  • Illness
  • Acne
  • Love handles
  • Liverpool losing the Premier League title race by one point.

(Of course, some of those points are trivial — but they’re also not. In truth, the worst thing that’s ever happened to us is the worst thing that’s ever happened to us, even if it’s not as bad as the tribulations our next-door neighbors are facing. But that’s a side note.)

Throughout my early career as an adolescent now into my mid-twenties, there’ve been plenty of hurdles.

To name a few, I lost my fiancé to a brain tumour, witnessed my parents’ chaotic marriage break down, and was forced to let go…
