Hello there!

Welcome to Mind in the Gap’s first-ever monthly writing prompt!

As writers, sometimes we find ourselves stuck on what to write. When the sky is the limit, it can be easy to end up staring blankly at the sky, with everything and nothing going on in our minds.

So here is a prompt to help you get the juices flowing! I hope it serves as a fun source of inspiration. I have been loving the intergenerational submissions of the writers in this pub, and cannot wait to read more of your wonderful stories!

Wedding season is officially in! Depending on Covid restrictions in your part of the world, of course…

So why are weddings so popular in the month of June?

The word June actually originated from the Latin Iunius, meaning “of Juno (Iuno)”. Iuno comes from the Latin iuventas, meaning “youth”, “juvenile” and “rejuvenate”, but it was also the name of a Roman goddess.

This Juno goddess, and protector of Rome, was an ancient Italian diety that was married to Jupiter. She is known as the goddess of marriage, fertility and childbirth. So yes, June weddings have been…
