TL;DR

Recognized by the Library of Congress with an official ISSN number, MIND Magazines is an authentic STEAM-based journal that displays articles written by students that explore every letter of STEAM.

MIND Magazines was created with the goal of allowing science to be universally accessible to everyone. We wanted to create a platform that allows students, no matter who their background, to have the opportunity to not only learn about science, but be able to take part in it and showcase their own work as a result.

If you share this goal and want to be a part of MIND Magazines, let this article be a guide for you to understand the process of becoming a part of MIND Magazines and what we do here!

After reading the article, go to the google forms👇, submit your application, and you’re done! Welcome to MIND Magazines and we can’t wait to have you on the team😁

A place where thought is born, reasoning is made, and emotions are felt, the MIND is the core of human thought and what enables us access to both the cognitive as well as non-cognitive aspects of our lives.

It gives us consciousness and perception of the world around us as well as emotion and reasoning; it is what makes us…us. As society has moved forward, we have used our minds to discover, create, and learn about everything around us. Unfortunately, society has found reasons to limit these minds from exploring their curiosity. Whether it’s age, background, or lack of academic knowledge, society has found reasons to put limitations on others and their pursuit in a study.

Our Mission: To educate, intrigue, and allow students of all interests to look into the world of STEAM

MIND Magazine was created with the purpose of eradicating limitations. We want to educate, intrigue, and allow students of all interests to look into the world of STEAM.

What We Believe: There are young brilliant minds everywhere and their thoughts should be made known, rather than concealed.

Science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics all touch on some or even all aspects of our lives, whether we know it or not. It is something our society needs to move forward and by allowing people’s ideas, projects, and art to be displayed, we can all contribute to the advancement of society.

What We Do:

MIND Magazines is a STEAM-based journal that provides a platform for students to explore their interests in STEAM.

We currently publish monthly scientific magazines that can be seen on our website (go check out some of our magazines!) that feature articles as well as deep research written by students. We also incorporate art into our magazines and feature original art pieces created by student artists that capture scientific concepts and allow readers to understand an article from a visual perspective.

However, as we begin gathering more writers, we aim to expand more on Medium, a great platform that allows articles to be seen by anyone!

To get a better understanding of why we are STEAM-based magazines, rather than just a STEM-based magazine, check out this article!

Being a part of MIND Magazines: Topics and Categories

All of our content on MIND Magazines is separated into each letter of STEAM:

  1. Science: Exploring various scientific concepts as well as the latest news on scientific discoveries.
  2. Technology: Keeping up with the latest news in technology and understanding the impact that it can have on our world today.
  3. Engineering: Understanding the design, building, and structures of technology through the application of science and mathematics
  4. Art: Whether it is personal stories, experiences, visual art pieces, op-eds, or whatever you consider art, this section of MIND Magazines allows writers to expose their creative side and have fun expressing themselves! Certain topics that may not fit in any of the other four categories are welcome on here and they can go over topics such as political science, economics, etc.
  5. Mathematics: Understanding our world through mathematics and looking at the history of math. Can vary from understanding the history of π (pi) to looking at number patterns in song lyrics!

MIND Magazines gives students the opportunity to explore STEAM on various levels whether it is looking at the basics of a certain scientific topic or diving deep into a topic on an expert level. Articles can vary from being 3-minute long reads to maybe even 30-minute long reads!

As Albert Einstein famously said, “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.”

Being a part of MIND Magazines: Requirements

Before applying as a writer, make sure that you meet these requirements and when publishing, follow these steps:

  1. You are either a middle/upper school student or college undergraduate at the time you apply.
  2. Your article must fall into one of the five categories listed above👆
  3. All the scientific information in your article is cited and all the information is scientifically correct and verifiable. As a scientific journal, we want to make sure that our content maintains a high standard and is a reliable that people can read.
  4. Content should be unbiased (unless it is an Op-Ed) and should be appropriate. There should be no adult content that you would expect a young student to read (i.e. no profanity, no use of violence).

Overall, we are looking for passionate and innovative students who are not afraid to explore their intellectual limits and show their passion for topics in STEAM through their writing.
