November, November, Another November

A poem about November, 2021 and yonder

November, November, another November
Twelve minus one — an eleventh month
January to October, ten months the year in
Yet, we are still hopeful that November and December
Will bring our delayed ship in
Great expectations (or delusions) that two months left
Will wipe away 2020’s woes and tears
And somehow usher us into a season of cheer

November, November, another November
Are you up to this challenge?
This great feat of humongous proportions
A lot rides on your shoulders dear November
Millions of earth’s children hoping and praying
That you and your successor December
Will usher in the good news and cheer
Where January to October left us bereft

November, November, another November
Are you up and willing to take on this great a task?
Will you indeed usher in hope and laughter
Douse tension and smooth away anxious emotions
Will you cause fractured factions and feuding parties?
Sheathe their swords and once…
