Uncertainty Mentality
A poem about today’s world
In a world gone mad
Insecurity and fear gone rife
Men quake and stumble
In dread of the next news and quandaries
Each day to its own tale of troubles
As all ponder on the morrow’s sure crisis
Fear, uncertainty, violence, and dread
Acrimony, angst, discord, and vice
Dispute, despair, discouragement, and disarray
Enmity, evil, apathy, and envy
In a world rife with distrust and suspicion
The tinder is set but with a match to light
Men of peace and goodwill
Stand bewildered and flummoxed
Staring in unbelief at our human propensity
For willful degradation and destruction
While conscienceless men of violence
Seek opportunities for mayhem and confusion
Is this the world we will bequeath our children and grandchildren?
Leaders and men of means and influence
Act with brazen impunity and disregard
Their hearts seared devoid of empathy
