Fight to Win — Part 1

Your Future Depends Upon It

“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.” — Plato (427 BC — 347)

This message is meant to be aggressive, confrontational and combative.

Why?

Because there’s a lot to be pissed off about these days…and your future depends upon your ability to not just fight, but fight to win.

For those of you who are fed up with the lying, cheating, bullying and non-stop bullshit going on in the world right now and ready to do something about it…I offer you a winning game plan.

For those of you who don’t have the courage, character or conviction to get off your knees, get your head out of the sand and fight for your freedoms…I offer you these words from General George S. Patton who said:

“Wars are not won by defensive tactics.”

Make no mistake about it, you and I are fighting a war…an epic, winner takes all battle. It’s a war that many of us are not prepared for…yet, it’s a war which we can, will and must win.

I agree with the man they call “Old Blood and Guts.”

Patton’s military strategy centered on aggressive, energetic advancement: a focus on ceaseless drive; a belief that “There would be time to rest when the war was over.”

Not only was retreat out of the question, so was even staying in place.

His motto in battle, he said, is “GO FORWARD!”

Like war…freedom is not won passively.

Throughout history, people have fought for causes in which they believe…

  • Emancipation of slavery.
  • Voting.
  • Women’s rights.
  • Apartheid.
  • Democracy.
  • Free speech.
  • Education.
  • Worker’s rights.
  • Prison reform.
  • Economic inequality.
  • Animal rights.
  • Gay rights.
  • Healthcare.
  • Religious freedom.
  • And, even the right to die to name just a few.

It can be argued that one simple idea — the concept of freedom — has been the driving force of civilization and may be the most influential, intellectual force the world has ever known.

Make no mistake about it…your success in protecting your freedoms is forever linked directly to your heart, your will, your steadfast commitment to remaining free AGAINST all odds.

You cannot ever let fatigue make you a coward, nor can you ever expect to win this war without struggling, without suffering, without sacrificing.

YES OR NO

Here’s a few simple Yes or No questions which will reveal strength or expose weakness…

1. Does your behavior demonstrate a relentless determination to protect your freedoms?

2. Is your resolve stronger and grittier than your fears and excuses?

3. Are you prepared to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes?

4. Are you keeping your mind strong and not letting the bastards get you down?

Be mindful…behavior never lies.

Being relentless is a commitment that stands in the face of obstacles, hardships, temptations, financial difficulties, failing physical health, broken relationships, and all resistance forces.

By choosing to be relentless, you are demonstrating no abatement of severity, intensity, strength, or pace…nor are you softening or yielding in determination.

The relentless attitude is the winning attitude and the remarkable thing about life is that you have a choice everyday regarding the attitude you will embrace for that day.

What that means is…you can choose to be relentless, to carry on and “Go Forward”…or you can choose to roll over and surrender to weakness.

It’s worth noting, winners don’t surrender. Losers do.

You cannot change your past. You cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. You cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing you can do is to play on the one string you have, and that is your attitude — your relentless, unstoppable, unbeatable attitude.

The inner passion of determination, the indomitable emotional commitment to protecting and defending your freedoms is an awesome and liberating force.

Winning belongs neither to the faint-hearted nor to the weak-willed or the uncommitted. Not if the enemy is great and his resolution strong.

Only by facing the opponent head-on and with a vengeance can the battle be won.

The rewards for those who are unyielding in their pursuit of freedom far exceed the pain that must precede the victory.

Quitting is the path of least persistence. There will be times when a voice within you seems to shout:

  • “I doubt if I can continue.”
  • “Why don’t you just quit and go back to safer ground.”
  • “These bastards just don’t quit and I don’t know if this will ever work.”
  • “Who am I kidding, I don’t have the strength to continue?”
  • “Why not just throw in the towel.”

Whenever that happens, dismiss your doubts and burn those mental bridges. Remind yourself there are always compensations for the assets you lack.

Once again…there are always compensations for the assets you lack.

When you get into a bind, when your back is up against the wall, when your options are paltry, and when it seems as though you could not possibly hang on a minute longer…never give up for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.

Your ability to be relentless is ultimately a physical, emotional and spiritual demonstration of how badly you want to remain a free and happy human being.

Great adversity and setback is NOT the problem. It is the inability to carry on despite them that is the problem.

That’s why your daily challenge is to fight the good fight…to confront and run over obstacles…to prove that your will and resolve is bigger and more resilient than any obstacle that comes your way.

Trust me on this one…

You really do want to let your enemy see you sweat, struggle and suffer as relentless determination is fueled by a heart-pounding, ego-bashing, soul searching test of your limits.

Greatness loves the scrappy ones as it’s hard to beat a person who never gives up…and there are very few obstacles that can withstand the relentless attack of one bold move after another.

Why should you put yourself through so much pain, sacrifice, inconvenience and suffering?

The answer is as simple as it is profound…

Because if you can pass the big tests…if you can overcome the relentless assault of your enemy…if you can deliver a knockout punch to fear and still keep moving forward…you will prove to yourself that good overcomes evil and that you are more powerful than you ever imagined possible.

I’ll leave you with another penetrating insight from General Patton…

“Do not regard what you do only as preparation for doing the same thing more fully or better at some later time. Nothing is ever done twice. There is no next time.”

We’re all playing a high stakes game of one and done…therefore, choose to go forward…choose play a strong relentless offense…and always choose freedom over fear.
