Live Boldly

“Yield not to evils, but attack all the more boldly.” — Virgil

Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part4.

As the ancient wisdom of Ecclesiastes put it…

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven…

  • A time to give birth and a time to die;
  • A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.
  • A time to kill and a time to heal;
  • A time to tear down and a time to build up.
  • A time to weep and a time to laugh;
  • A time to mourn and a time to dance.
  • A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;
  • A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.
  • A time to search and a time to give up as lost;
  • A time to keep and a time to throw away.
  • A time to tear apart and a time to sew together;
  • A time to be silent and a time to speak.
  • A time to love and a time to hate;
  • A time for war and a time for peace.

Yes, there is a season and a time for everything…“a time to plant and a time to uproot”.

We are at such a point in time. We need a systems change, a global uprooting, a Great Transformation.

“Live boldly now. Later may not be an option.” — Andrena Sawyer

Transformation occurs during times of boldness. The moment you decide to act boldly is the precise time your transformation begins to unfold.

Those who have transformed their lives and made a dent in the world have been the rebels, the non-conformists, the weirdos…they refuse to be sheep, refuse to follow orders and refuse to surrender their freedoms.

They are the ones who consistently engage in what I like to call moments of boldness.

These people understand that fortune favors the bold, and they CHOOSE to recognize boldness as both a fundamental right as well as a pragmatic reality.

Because of that decision …they choose to play offense by questioning authority, challenging assumptions, resisting the pull of conformity…and flipping the bird to anything that violates common sense and common decency.

The people who reach the upper echelon of success in any industry are the ones that act boldly. They see no inherent value in playing small, surrendering freedoms and being intimidated by fear.

Playing small, living in fear and blindly following orders does not serve you nor the world. There’s nothing enlightened about following the crowd and doing as you’re told.

“Timidity puts obstacles in your path. Boldness eliminates them. — Paulo Coelho

So, what do I mean by boldness?

Boldness is the act of responding to a situation in a manner that may be viewed as daring to some but is essential to effectively address the issue at hand.

When you are bold, some people will think you’re crazy, but if you’ve got big plans…it’s absolutely insane and irresponsible to be timid.

Boldness is a brilliant approach to a given situation. It requires excellent situational awareness, strong nerves, and craftiness.

Acting boldly means having the chops to advance confidently in the direction of your goals when others choose to embrace fear and retreat.

Boldness is the key driver of freedom which requires your capacity to increase your tolerance for risk and ambiguity…and when you do decide upon a course of action, boldness demands that you execute it aggressively.

Boldness does not mean being rude, reckless, insensitive, arrogant, or a bully. None of these attributes are acceptable to any of us … at any time.

Boldness is not an inherited trait, but it is a characteristic that will blossom with the determination you have to live an uncommon life of bravery.

The more you see yourself as a vibrant, successful, inspiring person who boldly stands for principle and who has the chops to declare and manifest their vision…the more you become just that.

Boldness comes when you begin to make valued decisions and move forward for what you believe in.

By challenging individual growth, by embracing inconvenience and by creating goals that stretch your comfort zone…you are bringing clarity to your dreams and energy that will revitalize your mind, your body, and spirit.

So, when will your transformation begin, and how will it arrive?

When will your talents fully be realized and your greatness put on display?

Do you really think anything in your life worth significance will materialize without an act of boldness, courage, and audacity?

“Boldness be my friend. Arm me audacity, from head to foot.” — William Shakespeare

What bold initiatives are you planning for and how will you approach it?

Maybe courageous isn’t a word people normally use to describe you. Well, I’ve got news for you…It does not matter because if the desire and commitment is strong enough, you can learn to develop the heart of a lion.

Here’s how…

Starting right now, you need to find that place within your mind to challenge yourself and to muster up just 20 seconds of boldness.

I promise you that your life and the speed with which you create results will improve immediately and exponentially.

That’s right… twenty ticks of the clock each day can turn everything around.

So, I will ask it again…

If you could just muster up just 20 seconds of boldness today, 20 seconds of insane courage…

  • What would you do?
  • What would you say?
  • Who would you call?
  • Where would you go?
  • What idea would you initiate?
  • Who would you reach out to?
  • What difficult conversation would you have?
  • What issue would you address?
  • Who would you encourage?
  • Who would you confront?
  • What would you believe?
  • What would you risk?

As mentioned earlier…Transformation occurs during times of boldness.

The moment you decide to act boldly is the precise time your transformation begins to unfold.

That’s why I’m calling you out right now. I want you to stand up, take the mask off, speak up, drawn that line in the sand and act like the tough, strong and bold person you are.

If you have a meeting today…prepare yourself and boldly share your beliefs.

If you are giving a presentation today…boldly and enthusiastically present your ideas.

If you have a negotiation scheduled for today…boldly state your position and shoot for the moon.

And, if you have an opportunity that presents itself somewhere, sometime today…go after with the conviction and confidence that you deserve it.

Use these examples to frame your own expectations for making this an outstanding day and for designing a bigger and far more beautiful future.

Then ask…

“Can I find a way, 3 times per day to demonstrate 20 seconds of insane courage in order to take my life and career to unprecedented levels?”

I know you can, but the real question is…WILL you begin doing it today?

Life isn’t meant to be lived perfectly…but merely to be lived. Boldly, wildly, beautifully, uncertainly, imperfectly, magically lived.

The time for living boldly has arrived!
