Childhood nostalgia is a powerful emotion that can bring us back to a time of innocence and joy.
An overwhelming feeling of nostalgia overcame me as I stood there and observed the little younger kids at the Mart checkpoint giggling and squeaking.
They'd most likely gotten their favorite toys.
The memories flood back, transporting me to a simpler time when my biggest worry was whether I would get my favorite cereal for breakfast or not.
Ah, the good old days when I didn't have to worry about money. My only financial concern was whether I had enough change for a pack of gum. Now, as an adult, I have to budget, pay bills, and save for retirement.
It's enough to make me want to crawl back into my childhood blanket fort.
But there were some financial lessons I learned as a kid that still stick with me today. For one, I learned the value of a dollar. My parents didn't just give me money whenever I wanted it. I had to earn it by doing chores or saving up my allowance.
