The Vancouver International Film Festival is back again! One of my favorite ways to learn, grow and travel . . . all from a theatre seat. My experience of the films shown at this festival is that they can really draw us into their messages through excellent cinematography, imagery and the creative lens that captures that message.

A couple of my favorite quotes from this years’ Letters of Welcome:

John Horgan, Premier — “VIFF allows us to discover the beauty and intricacies of different cultures, and also presents us with the chance to explore the expansive range of Canadian film”

Gregor Robertson, Mayor — “Film exposes us to new realities, emotion, social and cultural experiences, like nothing else is able to do”

I will be attending as many films as I can, and will provide a summary of my experience and who might enjoy/benefit from them. I hope that you too will get into the city and take in a few of your own.

The 36th annual Vancouver International Film Festival also marks the 150th anniversary of Canada, and the 50th anniversary of Telefilm Canada. It ends on Friday, October 13th — so get yourself there!
