Objective: Business Process Analysis and Requirements Documentation for Procurement of a New Parks and Recreation Solution

Background and Solution: Mindboard engaged the City of Raleigh’s Parks & Recreation Department to perform a Business Process Analysis and Document Requirements Definition to replace their legacy Recreation & Events Management System. The team conducted interviews with key staff members from the following departments: Facility Management, League Management, Program Management, Membership Management, POS & Inventory Management and Marketing Management. The project team also interviewed personnel from the Special Events Management Department. Utilizing the interview findings, the project team created “As-Is” process maps, which outlined the flow of data, defined process execution, and identified key issues and processes that could be streamlined. In addition, supporting narratives to the “As-Is” process maps were created.

The project team identified improvement areas in the three categories: Process Modification, New System Need and System Enhancement Need. Based on the core requirements, improvement areas identified and integration requirements with various other systems that the City uses, the project team developed detailed business requirements for each functional area to help the City of Raleigh procure the best solution that meets and exceeds their needs.
