Objective: Development of a Business Process Re-engineering Plan and Requirements Definition for a New ERP & Transportation Management System.

Background and Solution: Synagro engaged Mindboard to perform a technology needs assessment and business process re-engineering plan for an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Transportation Management system acquisition. During this engagement, Mindboard team worked in alliance with the organization’s core team members to evaluate business needs, document current processes, develop “to-be” process maps, and develop ERP system specifications best meeting Synagro’s business needs and leadership vision.

As a follow-on from a previous engagement, Synagro engagement with Mindboard was utilized to provide technical assistance and expertise to organization’s project sponsorship to ensure a successful ERP vendor selection and to develop business case depicting the Return on Invested Capital (ROIC). The project entailed:

  • Development of vendor evaluation criteria and providing assistance during the software selection process,
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis for each of the prospective vendors to ensure an effective comparison of ERP proposals/solutions, and
  • Development a business case that analyses the business requirements, identifies future-state ERP capabilities, and assesses options and transition approaches to achieve the future-state.

The business case also estimated the IT expenditure associated with implementing the improved systems capabilities, and identified the operating cost implications as well as benefit areas.
