Despite being very different, a Shiba Inu, Paris Hilton, The New York Times and Beeple have something special in common. And what may that be you ask? Well… all of the above have made big money by minting and selling NFTs.

The past year was amazing for NFTs, with prices literally going through the roof in the first quarter. It was common to witness astronomical prices being quoted and even received. The trend had front-page coverage and celebrities, sport and businesspeople were rushing to the closest minter to create their very own NFT.

NFTs are now almost a household term and many non-business entities (your neighbours too) are creating NFTs. This means it’s high time you get your own NFT out and (hopefully) make big money.

While one generally imagines the Bored App Yacht Club and CryptoPunks as what an NFT looks like, these tokens can take a myriad of shapes. We all know about Beeple’s ‘First 5000 Days’, which sold for a massive $69 million.

Read on as we discuss what an NFT is and 15 uniquely awesome NFT ideas to get you inspired to begin your own NFT journey. So without further ado, let’s get to it!

What is an NFT

In simple terms, an NFT, an acronym for ‘Non-Fungible Token’ is a crypto asset that is a part of Ethereum’s blockchain. These assets can be traded, bought and sold, most often with crypto currencies.

An NFT is an asset that exists only in the digital realm. You can’t touch an NFT but you can own one. The crux of the matter is that any digital file can be turned into an NFT. It could be a piece of art, a video, a piece of prose, music or even a meme (Bad Luck Brian got the last laugh).

We’ve already stated that an NFT is a non-fungible token. To understand what that means, let’s first discuss ‘fungibility’. Consider an example of a $100 bill. You can swap it for five $20 bills and still hold the same value. This makes the initial $100 bill ‘fungible’.

Now let’s say that Jay-Z signs that $100 bill. This immediately changes the value of the bill. Depending on the popularity/value attached to Jay-Z’s name, the value of the bill will either appreciate or depreciate. This makes it unique and subsequently, ‘non-fungible’.
