The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off with exciting reveals, inspiration, and new opportunities to continue creating the most innovative apps in the world.
WWDC is the biggest event for Apple, Developers and Users. This year it comes with many innovations come alive with all platforms.
Yes, you heard right! it’s for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS & macOS.
iOS 14:
It’s now more powerful and easier to use. It mainly has improvements and Home screen, Widgets and Picture in picture, etc.
Home Screen:
Apple is launching a new feature called “App Library”. It organizes all the applications we have in phone. Also, there is a search app option in App library so that we can easily find the app we want.
In first it has a list suggested apps and recently added apps.
Widgets:
Widgets now comes with variable size. Also, you can add widget to the home screen. At the top of all widgets there is a smart stack, in that you can see all widgets by scrolling.
Picture in picture:
By using this you can use Apps while watching any video. You can drag picture screen in any part of the screen and place it there. Also, you can zoom in and zoom out the picture screen. User can swipe aside a picture and keeps only audio playing.
Siri:
Apple has redesigned Siri. Instead of whole Siri screen, it now appears as a notification. Now you can send an audio message by using Siri.
Translate:
Apple introduce a new app for translation named “Translate”. It supports voice and text conversation between 11 languages. It also includes portrait conversation view for two people in single device. It supports offline mode.
Messages:
Messages include conversation, memoji and Groups.
Conversation: In it you can pin important conversation.
Memoji: In it you can customize your memoji more relavent to you. Age option is also added. You can also add a face mask to you memoji.
Groups: Inline Message reply in group. When you reply to specific message in group the it will create your own thread of message. There is also a mention option in group. So when someone mentioned you in group you are directly notified.
- You can also add a memoji in conversation.
- New visual indicators of group chats.
Maps:
iOS 14 Map now start support for cycling directions and EV routing. Now it provides better privacy policy. It gives easy ways to find places and helps in environment friendly ways to get there. Maps provide notification about newly added places near you.
Cycling Direction: It provides the route for cycling us per traffic conditions. Cycling will start with major cities.
EV Routing: It provides the ways for the electric car users on which they can get charging points. You can get route direction according to charging point you require.
CarPlay:
It is now available in 97% cars sold in US and 80% cars sold in worldwide. In this apple add new wallpaper options. New update replaces car key into digital key. So, you can open and start your car with iPhone. These digital keys are kept in iPhone’s secure element and can integrated with parental control to limit access. This thing is also being added to iOS13. User can share that key to someone privately.
It also add some new options like Parking , EV charging and quick food ordering.
App Store:
In app store it adds a new feature “App Clip”. It is a small part of an application which is less than 10 MB. So, it’s easy to use and fast. It is immediately discoverable. You can use it using app clip code. App clips are mostly contextual based, but it can also be launched from the App Library.
