Before my mom died at the end of 2015, I just read fiction books — mostly fantasy, or dystopian/post apocalyptic. Sometimes paranormal.

But after my mom died, starting with getting a giant pile of books on grief and loss from the library, I switched and started to read self-help books. I only just started reading fiction again in the last couple years.

After my mom passed, I ended up becoming a yoga (and meditation) teacher and getting really into meditation, and then, tangentially more about the mind, which led to the brain and neuroscience and psychology — since a lot of ‘famous’ meditation teachers are also psychologists and neuroscientists (some of which are listed in the books below!). Plus, I have always been fascinated by psychology and wished I had taken more than I did in University as part of my Criminology degree. But in the last few years (thanks pandemic!), I ended up doing some online courses in psychology — specifically Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, as well as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) mainly out…
