Shopify Stores For Sale? How to Use the Shopify Exchange to Buy (and Sell) Your Store

Shopify Exchange Review: In this short video we look at OxfordandSneakers.Com, a new store for sale on the Shopify Exchange. Are these sorts of stores worth buying?
What is the truth behind the numbers? What should you look for BEFORE sinking your hard earned cash to buy a shopify store…..RATHER, than building one for yourself, for free.
While I have no personal insight into this particular store, based on the numbers published on the listing on the shopify exchange, we take a quick look at whether this sort of site is REALLY as appealing as it appears, and whether or not you ought to build something like this for yourself, rather than buying an existing asset.
Here are the general rules I follow for our own agency, when looking to buy a new shopify store, or whether to try to replicate, emulate or reverse engineer the same strategy ourselves.
- How are they generating traffic? If paid ads, how much are they spending per month, and can we afford to spend the same amount?
2. Is there are direct correlation between ad spend and revenue? And of course, if ad spend goes down……or as it often does in these example stores for sale, does revenue disappear along with it? (note — you want SOME natural traffic obviously, and you want some of that natural traffic to convert into sales, subscribers and cash flow. If the whole of the stores strategy is to PAY for ads, make sales predicated PURELY on those ads, and then “flip” the store for sale, you can be pretty sure that while the fancy sales statistics may look impressive, in reality, they are losing money/breaking even, and selling you something you won’t be able to sustain without similar spend — and a similar end game strategy)
In most cases, your best bet is to simply BUILD YOUR OWN store :) You can start a shopify store for free (here) and emulate most of what the appealing stores for sale are doing on your own — with very little (or no) money down.
