In 2014, we decided to create MindHub, a coding school for children, where to enable every kid of pre-school age to get acquainted with the coding world. The idea was born spontaneously, one afternoon, watching the kids at a children’s centre, thinking over their future and what awaits them at their first meeting with our educational system.

The robots Dash and Dot are the most favourites of the kids.

MindHub’s mission is to revolutionise the educational system in Bulgaria!

Following the emergence of the idea of a coding school where kids in pre-school and primary school age learn to think interestingly, we began to explore whether there are similar places. The problems we encountered are very serious, such as:

1. There are not enough logical disciplines in the curriculum.

2. There are no innovative approach and training tools. It is hard to keep the kids’ attention.

3. The teaching of logical disciplines is more theoretical than practical.

4. There are not enough places where children between 5 and 11 years old to develop their logical thinking and learn the fundamentals of programming.

All of these issues motivated us to create MindHub as the first step towards revolutionising our education system. Our education system has an urgent need for innovations!

MindHub is an innovative programming club for kids

At MindHub, we develop children’s algorithmic thinking and ability to solve complex problems by learning the basics of programming. In our training, we rely on various innovative methods and tools to keep children’s attention. Our arsenal includes many software and hardware tools, drones, robots, various board games and card games. All of them are specifically designed to train children in programming and develop their logical and analytical thinking.

With us, kids learn how to hack their favourite game — Minecraft.

Our curriculum lasts for 2 years. During the first year, children learn the basics of programming in four modules. During the second year, children focus on teamwork as well as solving more complex problems. Due to the specifics of our activities and our desire to have an individual approach to kids, we work in small groups of 6–8 children at the approximate age.

Since 2015 until now, more than 5 000 kids have participated in our activities. Our wish in the near future is to reach many more children around the world! Some of the surprises that are ahead are new places of learning, as well as a new and more interesting curriculum.
