You know how it is:
- “I love selling cars. It fulfills me. It doesn’t pay much, of course, so I write sonnets during the day to pay the bills. I dream of the day I can sell so many cars I can give up the poetry gig for good.”
- “I perform in local theater so I can put food on the table. But of course, my real love is accounting. Something about adding up rows of numbers just … well, if you’ve ever been bitten by the accounting bug, you know the thrill. But it’s just a dream. I know I’ll probably be treading the boards my whole damned life.”
- “I said I’d never sing in a rock band. I didn’t want to sell out. But it got to the point I had to. Just selling insurance wasn’t cutting it. And I mean I put my body and soul into selling insurance. I wanted to be one of the few people who could cover my bills with insurance sales. I stuck it out as long as I could, but in the end, I really had no choice but to pick up that microphone and start belting out tunes.”
