This is even more exciting than the day I earned my first Boost!

I used to live for getting that email that said, “Congratulations! Your story has been Boosted on Medium” but I just got an even bigger thrill: The first story I’ve ever nominated for a Boost was just accepted.

Walter Rhein submitted How Learning a Foreign Language Has Benefits You’ve Never Considered. As a long-time fan of Walter’s writing, I was really happy and excited that one of his pieces was the first of my nominations to be accepted.

I originally started my publication, Minds Without Borders, because as a newbie Medium writer I couldn’t figure out how to submit to other publications. A few of them had clear instructions readily available, but many did not.

So I started my own

I figured that as someone who used to run a daily newspaper, I had the know-how to start my own pub, so that’s what I did. But once the Boost program came along, I put more emphasis on submitting to other publications that had Boosting power. Sometimes nominators did find and nominate things I put in my own publication, but I had much better luck earning Boosts when I submitted to pubs that could nominate.
