I’m From The Government, and I’m Here to Ruin Everything

Republicans always tell us how useless government is, and then proceed to make it true

If you think Big Government is bad, wait until you meet Big Business.

Probably Ronald Reagan’s most ridiculous and best-known quote was: “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the Government, and I’m here to help.” It helped convince Americans that the government was nothing but a screw-up; a huge beast best starved.

Big Government vs Big Business

It doesn’t make sense, does it? If you think a big company with endless departments is efficient, try getting through to one to dispute a charge. Corporations are indifferent to our needs but I seldom hear anybody complain that Big Business is our enemy.

You’d think far-right people would insist they will only do business with sole proprietorships, never with large companies.

The U.S. is a big country of more than 340 million people, so yes, we need Big Government. There’s a lot to do, and doing it right requires a right-sized government.

Inefficiencies are a part of any large organization of any kind.
