Recommended Travel Descriptions

Kiruna is on the northern edge on the country and people who want to get there fast often fly through SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) from Stockholm. Students and youth under 26 get a cheaper airfare. Once you are in there just call taxi. If you have no rush and want to see some spectacular scenery take a train from Stockholm through SJ, Sweden’s train service. It takes around 17 hours but it can be worth it. Onboard meals, internet and all modern services can be found during the journey. If you want a roadtrip do so by all means. Just keep in mind its around 1240km from Stockholm and roads are winding and narrow. Weather is also an important factor to consider. For all the adventurers out there Hitchhike! It can be both daunting and rewarding.

Best time to travel

Kiruna has something to offer all year but if you are visiting for the Ice Hotel, winter is the best time to be in Kiruna. It combines with sledge-dog ride, aurora borealis and other activities. Just make sure you have really warm clothes and an adventurer spirit.
