Description of Location

Nominated as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006, Regensburg is one of the oldest town in Germany believed to be founded in 179 AD by Romans. Romans built the spectacular ‘Castra Regina’ Palace on the northern edge by the Danube, where you can simply sit and view the town. What made city immensely rich is the massive project of Stone Bridge called “Steinerne Brücke” that made trade between Paris, Venice and Novograd possible. It is was also known as Freie Reichsstadt, the free imperial city because of its sheer size. Still today it has 3 universities and many landmarks dating back to ancient times. Walking on its stone streets, you can’t miss the feeling of being a middle-age movie character. People speak typical bavarian accented German that dodges even German speakers at times.

Did you know that Kastell Kumpfmühl, the Roman castle was destroyed by barbaric German tribes in 1st century A.D.?
