Dear Mother Earth
All we are, we owe to our mother
Beloved Mother Earth,
Often we get caught up in our day-to-day lives, consumed with all the important tasks we all need to do for making a living that we forget there is the beautiful earth around us who has been nurturing us and keeping us alive since the dawn of civilization. You have been in this universe for over 13.7 billion years, beginning as a molten heavenly body before evolving to become a place where life could thrive and flourish. From the tiniest microscopic creature to the majestic blue whale, you haven’t turned down any single soul.
Sometimes, we have taken you for granted, ignored your numerous warnings, simply chosen not to listen, and made choices that weren’t in your best interest. May this time of corona virus be what is needed for us to come into senses and face the consequences of our massacres. We are ashamed, even to ask for an apology, mother. We hope that you will forgive us as any mother would do to her children. We definitely aren’t perfect, but we are trying and will continue to try even harder. We are committed to a renaissance of care, empathy, equality, restraint, innovation as the path to resurrecting your true self for all living beings and a future that holds our promise to preserve, protect, and cherish you.
You deserve so much more than one day of the world’s attention. You have given us our home and life ourselves, and for that, every day should be spent cherishing you. We may not tell you every day but thank you for bearing with us, mother. We vow to live with awakening and compassion and so be worthy of calling ourselves your children. Love you, the dearest mother of us all.
