Snapchat released a major update today. Everyone is going crazy for the new chat functionality. You can now make video calls, voice calls and leave really cool GIF voicemails. Prepare to hear about it hard over the next few days.

Here’s what people are not seeing. The major update is actually all about method in which stories are consumed. Previously, you would pan down your list of followers stories and select the one you wanted to watch.

Now — once I tapped on a follower to view their story and I reach the end, I’m automatically brought to my next followers story. This. Is. Huge.

Take a look at how you now see the users name in the top left when watching stories.

It means you start to watch stories that you may have not watched before. Once you start to watch a few seconds, you become hooked and continue viewing. The story view count on Snapchat is about to sky rocket.

It’s a Snapchat TV channel.

The market has show that people have moved to consuming shorter form content on YouTube. Snapchat has just hit that game and they’re going to dominate. It takes such little effort to post a story in comparison to the polish of a YouTube video.

The Chat 2.0 feature is the mechanism that ensures people keep creating awesome, raw content and airing it on their followers Snapchat TV channel.

If you haven’t already done so, get moving onto Snapchat or be prepared to get left behind.
