Where Are All the Dublin Designers?

A Creativity Plea

I constantly reevaluate our proposition to our clients at MiniCorp. We’re not technical builders who are handed architect’s drawings and asked to pick up our tools and get on with it.

We get in at the early stages with a company or product so we can work with them to define and craft the proposition.

If you are a young startup on a budget, you need to be armed with the knowledge to make informed decisions about your product. We need to understand all aspects of the product to help with that. What seems like an extremely large technical feature to implement may actually be quite small. At MiniCorp we feel if we didn’t offer our two cents and help build a strategy together, we’re simply not doing our job.

Building the Story

A Design Influence

For example, lets say a lady walks into MiniCorp with an idea. She’s completed some basic market research but essentially is looking to validate the idea and possibly move into building the product if it’s viable.

The next steps we will bring her through next all revolve solely around design and the ability to tell her products story from all sides.

We will fill an entire wall with print outs, post-it notes and mood boards and discuss for hours with her, what exactly is this product solving and why? Is it a big enough market? How does the user story flow.

It’s all design.

Development Handover

Rocking the Productivity

As the process continues and the product is defined, wireframes created and full designs discussed. Finally all is signed off and we have a hard definition of what were bringing to market. It’s time to talk to the developers.

Having these fully signed off and completed designs is paramount. It ensures the product has been discussed throughly, all instances and edge cases taken into account and the definition of the work completed. There is no occurrence of building a function twice. The developer can view the designs, depict a path to achive the functionality and begin.
